The third album from Maggie Rose, Have a Seat, is the work of a phenomenally gifted artist showing the full extent of her power. The foundation is solidly Latin with streaks of irreverent rock and twangy guitars running through it, all branded with the unmistakable Mavericks style. En Espa±ol adds a striking assortment of genres–salsa, ska, norte±o, mariachi–to The Mavericks’ sturdy rock/country base. Although all 12 tracks are in Spanish, the collection represents a diversity of musical styles and cultural traditions, from tender boleros to brassy mariachi to reimagined Afro-Cuban classics. Since then the Mavericks have been quite active with six albums released including a Christmas record, an album of all covers and their latest En Espanol an album recorded entirely in Spanish. Another hiatus followed before the band reunited in 2011 as an expanded quintet. The band was on a several year hiatus while Raul Malo progressed his solo career and it was 2003 before they reformed to record an album.

The Mavericks had two more fast selling albums in the 90s before Trampoline came in 1998. 1994’s What a Crying Shame had two top 20 hits and was a Platinum selling album. It was the second album that popularized the band. Ironically, the only single to do well from the album was a Hank Williams cover. Their first national album came in 1992 but was only a modest success.
